Presentation: The Value of Mentoring
|

Mentoring can be an instrumental part of professional growth and development. Mentors can help others do their jobs better by sharing best practices. Mentors can also help others build a network of colleagues. As we know, developing a network of knowledgeable colleagues is critical to success in public procurement. GPAG has recognized the value of mentoring and is working to develop a mentoring program for our membership. Please join us as we learn more about the value of mentoring with Dr. Sylvia Hutchinson.
Dr. Hutchinson has been a strong advocate of mentoring throughout her faculty career at the University of Georgia. She currently works with the Center for Teaching and Learning as the Coordinator of the Emeriti Faculty. She is Professor Emeritus of Higher Education and Reading Education, and directed the Postdoctoral Teaching Fellows program at the Institute of Higher Education and College of Arts and Sciences; her distinguished career includes service as Associate Dean of the College of Education, where she directed international education programs while continuing to teach and advise graduate students. In each of her positions, she has been both a wonderful mentor to students and the creator of formal mentoring programs for students and faculty.
